Annika's First Easter

We had a very busy Easter Day! We celebrated Annika's first Easter by going to church with our friends Jim & Chris Gurney and their family. We then headed over for Easter lunch to Chris' parents at Eagle Crest, The Hedin's. Yes, spelled like Hedin but pronounced Head-in. You can imagine the hard time Gary gives Chris on which way is the correct pronunciation! The Gurney kids were so sweet and saved a few "easy" hidden eggs for Annika to find. We then continued the holiday by heading over to Sisters for Easter dinner with our friends, The Hughes. Here Annika decided to show her true colors and throw one of her little fits. We now officially have witnesses that she is not always our little perfect angel. Gary and I are hoping that we will be invited back and will be allowed to bring our daughter! :-)
Hope you enjoy all the Easter pics....and yes it is a SCARY Easter Bunny! But she mostly slept through the whole

Special Vistors

Saturday we had some special visitors. Aunt Pam and Cousin Billy stopped by during their trip to the mountain to see Annika (not Gary and I!:-)

Spring is Here!

Left: Shae feeds a hungry little girl.

Below: Annika thinks so hard she falls asleep.

Well yesterday was the 1st day of spring but you wouldn't know it as we have woke up the past 2 mornings to a dusting of light snow! However, it didn't take long for the sun to start shining. Annika is getting bigger by the minute. She is starting to smile when you talk to her vs. when she just passes gas, ha, ha. She is also cooing and making noises and noises that are more pleasant that is rather than just crying! She is awake a lot more during the day which allows for more play time, but she still has a day here and there where all she wants to do is SLEEP. She doesn't like to sleep in her bed during the day she would much rather sleep in her little papasan chair out in the living room--therefore she doesn't sleep soundly, but it allows me to get a few things done like brush my hair and teeth, etc. Sometimes even shower.

I have been catchin quite a bit of slack for not posting anything this week--but again we are just not that interesting :-). I guess I could talk about our family highlight of the week: Tuesday night we got out of the house and went to a Bingo night at the H.S.. The evening was proof that I have been inside too much for I was really getting into it! It was almost scary! But Annika was really good and was quiet and content sitting on our laps as we furiously dabbed away!

Yesterday we had a special visitor. My friend Shae from here in Redmond came home for a visit. She got married in September and moved to Georgia to live on her husband's family ranch. It was her first time to meet Annika. We went to lunch and hung out at the house for a bit. It was nice to catch up. She is staying with her sister and it turns out her sister lives on the other side of our back fence! Small world.

This morning Annika got her picture taken with the Easter Bunny--she practically slept through the whole thing! I don't have a scanner otherwise I would post it. But Monday morning I should have pics of her in her Easter dress.

Hope you all have a great weekend and are enjoying your first few days of Spring!

6 Week Check Up

This afternoon we took Annika for her 6 week check up. She had her shots and was a tough little girl. She weighed 8 pounds 13 ounces (25th percentile) and was 21 3/4 inches (50th percentile). This was good news has she had a difficult time gaining weight when she was first born. We really like her doctor and the office we are going to here in Central Oregon.

Here is a pic of her with her Charlie Brown bandaids!

A Trip Home

Here a few pics of Annika from our weekend trip home. The first is with her cousin Isabella (Valeri’s daughter), then with cousin Taylor (Shelly's daughter).

We made a quick trip home this weekend and wouldn’t ya know it—we hit Salem and it started to pour down rain! I had a Miss Rodeo Oregon function all day Saturday and Gary had a Coach Clinic to attend in Portland. We spent Friday night with my family and friends and Sunday with Gary’s parents. Saturday mom and Linda tag teamed babysitting for the ENTIRE day. This is the first time Annika has stayed with anyone other than Gary and I. Yes…a big occasion. Saturday night Annika was a celebrity at the Miss Rodeo Oregon Coronation. AND I forgot to take pictures—not even ONE with the rodeo queens.

We headed home on Sunday. She does pretty well with the drive over the mountain. That last 30 minutes is difficult for her. We had to stop on the way Friday and pull her out to change her diaper—we couldn’t take the smell any more! Ha ha….
Hope you enjoy the pics and the updates. – s.

Annika's Wardrobe

Here are some picks of Annika's very "unorganized" room and one of Gary getting her ready for her bath last night. I am hoping to start putting her room together soon. Gary has 2 weeks off for Spring Break so maybe we will be able to start it then. Actually--I am waiting form G'ma Patty and Aunt Linda to come and paint, and Gary is waiting for G'pa Hedin to put together the crib--ha, ha, hint, hint! I thought you would enjoy the pics of her FULL closet. Now I think I am safe to say that the majority of clothes in this closet have come from my mom's work! ESPECIALLY KAREN K!! She is a very lucky little girl to have so many "fans!" :-) Also, notice the stuffed animals in the window--there is a baseketball and TWO footballs (1 is even pink!).

It has been so nice--we have yet to buy diapers or wipes. Which is a good thing since the cost of formula is OUTRAGEOUS!! She is starting to outgrow her smaller newborn outfits and onsies. It is nice that 2 of my friends and Gary's cousin are all having girls--so not only will Annika grow up with some partners in crime--but we lots of friends to share all her "stuff" with.
