4 Month Check-Up

Talking with dad.
Annika and her big blue eyes!
Uh...do we have to do this right this second? I need my beauty sleep.

Only 2 more weeks of school! Actually only 8 days with students (for me). Gary has a couple extra. Then Annika and I will be able to join Gary here in Redmond full time. June will still bring a lot of back and forth as I need to clean out my classroom and volunteer for the annual Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant at the end of the month. Gary is also busy as he has football camp in McMinnville and will be taking a weeklong course. And Annika…well she will be busy to…GROWING AND GROWING AND GROWING!

Yesterday she had her 4-month check up. I had to work so I met Gary at Detroit Lake for dinner Thursday evening and to exchange the package (baby!). The doctor said she was a healthy little girl weighing 12 lbs and 6 ½ oz. (25th Percentile) and 24 inches (50th Percentile—which is good news for her basketball career). She had more shots—Gary sent me pics on my phone of her chubby little legs and her band aids. She goes back again in August for her 6-month check up—AND that one I will be there for.

Annika is handling the driving back and forth pretty well. There is usually one way that she will sleep the entire drive. And only one drive I had to make a few stops to change a couple dirty diapers! She truly has been a good sport and it helps now that she plays with toys and can keep herself occupied in her seat.

Well we are off to visit some friends in Sisters and I am going to go on a short horse ride for the first time in over a year! Then it is off to Walmart to buy baby cereal and spoons and try that for the first time this evening!!

Long Time No Post

Well it has been a busy few weeks. I have now been back to work for three full weeks. Gary was off for two of them and then headed back to work this past Monday. I think he enjoyed being home and being Mr. Mom for a couple weeks. (Although he did get some clamming and fishing in!) Annika and I are staying with my grandparents in Gaston through the end of the school year (only 17 more days with students—but who’s counting?)

Our first weekend home my best friend Amber D. got married. Annika was all dressed up her pretty dress and looked absolutely adorable. The second week Gary and Grandpa Hedin took Annika for a drive “up on the Trask.” Her daddy is trying his best to make her a tom boy but I have a feeling she is going to be a pretty princess all the way through! She and daddy spent lots of time with Grandma and Grandpa Hedin making daily visits—she especially likes to wait and surprise G’pa Hedin with a dirty diaper just for him.
Annika and I are home in Redmond for the weekend enjoying the sunshine. It is nice to be home and we are looking forward to coming back next weekend for the long holiday weekend. Next Friday Annika has her 4th month check up. I can’t believe that she is almost 4 months! Time truly does fly by.
